What it is like to work at a performance-driven agency
Performance marketing is accountable marketing. Every campaign, page and partnership we run has a metric attached, whether that is qualified organic sessions, cost per acquisition, affiliate-sourced revenue or test win rate. That changes the nature of the work. You spend less time producing deliverables for their own sake and more time forming a hypothesis, shipping a change, reading the data and deciding what to do next.
It also means you are close to the client’s business. You will see their revenue numbers, their margins and their constraints, and you will be expected to make recommendations that respect them. A media buyer who understands a client’s LTV and payback period makes better bid decisions than one who only looks at ROAS. An SEO who understands how a merchandising team thinks builds better category pages.
The work is collaborative by necessity. Search, paid, affiliate and conversion optimisation share the same landing pages, the same analytics and the same customers, so specialists here work across channel lines rather than in silos. Expect to be in rooms where the plan is questioned, including by you.
The disciplines we hire for
SEO
Technical audits, site architecture, crawl and index management, content strategy and link acquisition. You will work with Search Console, log files, Screaming Frog and rank-tracking tools, and you will be expected to explain Core Web Vitals and canonicalisation to non-technical stakeholders.
Paid media
Google Ads, Microsoft Ads and paid social account structure, bidding, creative testing and budget allocation. The job is to grow efficient volume, which means understanding Quality Score, negative keyword sculpting, Performance Max signals and how attribution windows change what “working” looks like.
Affiliate and partnerships
Programme design, publisher recruitment, commission modelling, tracking validation and fraud monitoring across networks such as Impact, PartnerStack, CJ and Awin. Relationship skills matter as much as spreadsheet skills.
Conversion rate optimisation
Research, hypothesis design, A/B testing and analysis. You will run tests on landing pages, forms and checkout flows and be expected to know when a result is statistically meaningful and when it is noise.
Analytics and tracking
GA4, Google Tag Manager, server-side tagging, conversion APIs and reporting in Looker Studio. The role underpins every other discipline; if the data is wrong, every decision built on it is wrong.
Content and strategy
Search-led content planning, briefing and editing, plus account strategy roles that tie channels together into a single growth plan for a client. Strong writing and commercial judgement are the core requirements.
Not every role sits neatly in one box. If you are a T-shaped marketer with depth in one channel and working knowledge of two others, that is often the most useful profile for the way we work. See our services pages for a fuller picture of each discipline.
What we look for
- Evidence over opinion. You can show how you reached a conclusion, and you change your mind when the data says you should.
- Commercial understanding. You know why CAC, LTV and margin matter and can connect channel metrics to them.
- Clear communication. You can explain a technical decision to a founder in two sentences and defend it in detail if asked.
- Craft. You care about doing the work properly, from clean account structures to well-documented tracking.
- Integrity. No guaranteed rankings, no private blog networks, no inflated reports. We would rather lose a pitch than win it with a claim we cannot support.
How hiring works
Application
Send a CV or LinkedIn profile and a short note on the work you are proudest of, through the contact page. A cover letter is optional; a link to something you built or improved is more useful.
Introductory call
A 30-minute conversation about your experience, what you want from the next role and whether the timing and scope make sense on both sides.
Practical exercise
A short, scoped task that mirrors real work, such as reviewing an account structure, auditing a page or critiquing a test plan. We keep it to a few hours and never use the output commercially.
Working session
You walk the team through your exercise and we discuss it together. This is the most important step; we want to see how you think, not just what you produced.
Offer and onboarding
References, offer, and a structured first month with a named point of contact and a clear set of accounts to learn.
We aim to respond to every application and to give feedback after the practical exercise stage. Typical time from application to decision is [ADD TYPICAL HIRING TIMELINE].
Benefits and ways of working
[ADD BENEFITS — compensation approach, leave, learning budget, tooling, equipment.]
[ADD LOCATION AND WORKING MODEL — remote, hybrid or office-based, time zones covered, core hours.]
Open roles
Current openings
[ADD OPEN ROLES — no positions are listed yet; send a speculative application via the contact page]
We review speculative applications for all of the disciplines above. If you tell us which channel you specialise in and the kind of clients you have worked with, we can keep your details on file and get in touch when a matching role opens, subject to the retention period in our Privacy Policy.
